CAPIEMP and CAPIET Holders Can Now Enter STEM-HIHTS Without a BAC or GCE A-Level

Good news for teachers in Cameroon.

If you already hold a CAPIEMP or CAPIET certificate, you can now apply for higher education at STEM Higher Institute of Health and Technological Sciences (STEM-HIHTS) without having a Baccalauréat (BAC) or GCE Advanced Level.

This new opportunity follows Ministerial Order No. 26/00763/MINESUP/SG/IGS/DDES/DAJ, signed on 3 July 2026 by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Who Can Apply?

This new admission pathway is for teachers who hold either of the following certificates:

• CAPIEMP (Certificat d’Aptitude Pédagogique des Instituteurs de l’Enseignement Maternel et Primaire) for nursery and primary school teachers.
• CAPIET (Certificat d’Aptitude Pédagogique des Instituteurs de l’Enseignement Technique) for technical education teachers.

If you have one of these certificates, you no longer need a BAC or GCE A-Level to begin higher education through this special admission route.

How the Admission Process Works

Instead of applying through the normal admission process, CAPIEMP and CAPIET holders must sit for a competitive entrance examination organized by STEM-HIHTS.

Your admission will be based on:

• Your performance in the entrance examination.
• The grade you obtained on your CAPIEMP or CAPIET certificate.

Minimum Grade Required

The grade on your certificate determines the programme you can apply for.

Please note that STEM-HIHTS may set a higher minimum grade for some professional programmes. Contact the Admissions Office to confirm the exact requirement for your chosen programme.

What If You Have a Diplôme de Capacité?

If you hold a Diplôme de Capacité, you may also qualify for admission into the first year of higher education.

The detailed admission process for Diplôme de Capacité holders will be announced in a separate ministerial decision. You can contact the Admissions Office for the latest information.
